CASE STUDY

Telford Northeast

The existing site when purchased, was an eroding clay pit quarry including 12 disused mine shafts and below ground mining workings.

The land required the mineshafts to be made safe by reinforced concrete capping and a significant quantum of earthworks. 32,000m3 of recycling engineered fill was used to transform the quarry area into development platforms while reducing the environmental impact of the scheme.

Our objective for the 37-acre site was to secure planning permission for up to 350 homes along with a mixed-use centre comprising 16 acres of a new country park and enhanced ecological areas, and 1.2 acres of play and open space amenities.

Following the granting of planning consent, we undertook highway and earthworks in order for us to be able to offer serviced parcels of land to the market.

The site was sold in phases to two house builders creating a new community on the edge of Telford with a large, mature, ecology country park providing an environmental focus to the development.
